Dubai Firefighters safely evacuated 60 workers from a burning tower under construction, civil defense officers said on Tuesday.
The fire was still not put out at 9:30 pm when the workers, who had fled to the top floors when the fire broke out, were rescued, UAE daily Gulf News reported.
The tower is behind the Metropolitan Hotel near Safa Park on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The majority of the site workers were out of the building since the fire broke out when the shift changed, the paper said.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire, it added.
