ARABIA PROJECT: An artist's impression of the $5 billion City of Arabia.

Simplex Infrastructures Ltd has won a 168 million dirham ($46 million) contract to build Wadi Tower, a key part of the $5 billion retail, residential, commercial and entertainment resort of City of Arabia.

The Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group, the owners of City Arabia, announced on Tuesday it had appointed Simplex as the main contractor for the high-rise tower within the city, which will form the gateway to Dubailand.

India-based Simplex Infrastructures, which beat eight other companies to the contract, said work on site was already underway and it estimated it would employ more than 350 workers at the peak of construction, with the project set for completion by the end of 2010.
