Lebanese singer Suzanne Tamim fought back against her attacker before she was murdered, a Dubai forensic expert told a court in Egypt on Saturday, UAE daily the National reported.

During five hours of testimony in Cairo Criminal Court, Hazem Metwali Ismail, an analyst with Dubai Police, said he found bruises on Tamim's arms and legs and a broken nail on her left hand indicating she had struggled against her attacker, according to the newspaper.

Tamim was stabbed to death at her house in Dubai in the UAE on July 28.

Ismail, who examined Tamim's body at the scene and conducted the post-mortem examination, said the singer had a deep cut to the throat that severed her windpipe, the National reported.

Egyptian construction magnate Hesham Talaat Moustafa is charged with paying former police officer Muhsen el-Sukkari $2 million to murder Tamim. Both men have pleaded not guilty to murder and incitement charges.

Saturday's court session was the eighth since the trial began on Oct. 18.
