Qatar Airways took delivery of a Boeing 777 on Tuesday, increasing the Doha-based airline’s fleet to 65 aircraft.

The carrier will deploy its fifth Boeing 777-300 ER, which arrived at Doha International Airport from Seattle at 1.50pm, on services to Manila from January 2009.

Qatar currently operates 11 weekly flights to the Philippine capital.

The 335-seat Boeing 777 aircraft features 42 business class seats in a 2–2–2 configuration, with 78-inches of seat space and individual TV screens measuring 15.4 inches. Economy class has 293 seats in a 3–3–3 configuration with 10.6 inch TVs and 32-inch seat space.

Akbar Al-Baker, Qatar Airways’ CEO, said the new arrival caps off a successful year for the airline.

During the next two years, Qatar Airways is expecting delivery of several more aircraft as part of its expansion strategy. The carrier has more than 200 planes worth some $40 billion on order.

This latest aircraft increases Qatar Airways’ fleet to 65 Boeing and Airbus aircraft, serving 83 cities across Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Far East and North America.
