Qtel and Reliance Globalcom have entered into a strategic network agreement that aims to position Qatar as a centre for global Internet Protocol Services (IPS).

As part of the agreement, the two companies will inter-connect networks to provide a range of managed services for both Qatari and international clients.

This includes services such as Global Ethernet, Full Circuit IPLC (International Private Leased Circuit), Managed Services and IP VPN (Internet Protocol for Virtual Private Networks).

In addition to enabling business networks to manage a higher volume of voice, video and data applications, the inter-connection of networks will also reduce the impact of disruptive events such as the recent damage to submarine cables that caused havoc to internet and voice services.

“We are pleased to expand our services by connecting Qatar on the Reliance Globalcom network, via a strong regional partner such as Qtel,” said Punit Garg, president and CEO for Reliance Globalcom.

“Our relationship with Qtel is part of a strategy to collaborate with quality service providers and leverage each other's strengths to extend network capability and reach in the region for serving the fast growing needs of our customers,” added Garg.
