Top guns to judge Campaign awards

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Sunday, 17 December 2006

Campaign has secured the services of two of the biggest names in world advertising to judge its forthcoming Campaign Creative Awards.

Tony Wright, the chairman of Lowe Worldwide, will join Michael Maedel, the worldwide president of JWT, on the panel.

The international duo will be joined by a host of regional advertising experts, including Farid Chehab, chief creative officer for Central, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa at Leo Burnett.

And more names will be announced in the coming weeks.

After a spell at Y&R, Maedel joined JWT in 1990 as chairman and CEO of the German operation, based in Frankfurt. In 1993 he took on the additional responsibility of being area director for Central and Eastern Europe, and his territory has expanded ever since.

Wright was heavily involved in the successful launch of Lowe Middle East and North Africa this year, one of the agency's new global hubs. He has been heavily critical of the standard of advertising in the region.

Before joining Lowe Worldwide, Wright served as chief strategy and planning officer for Ogilvy & Mather, where he was credited with the rebranding of British Petroleum into BP.

The closing date for entries to the Campaign Creative Awards is 11 January. Winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 12 February.
