Bahrain's telecommunications regulatory authority (TRA) has decided to extend the deadline for the registration of personal details of existing prepaid mobile users.
The decision to extend to March 31 was based on the fact that despite apublicity campaign undertaken by TRA and operators, there still remains a significant number of unregistered subscribers.
TRA's general director, Alan Horne, said: "TRA has agreed to extend the date to give three extra months to users but will not give a further extension."
He urged all prepaid mobile users to check with their operator that their personal details are properly recorded. e added: "TRA took the step of requiring registration to support public safety and discourage attempts to exploit telecommunications networks for illicit purposes.
"It is very important for the users of mobile services to understand the importance of complying with the regulation and to take necessary actions to register their details, if they wish to continue using their existing prepaid mobile phone number."
Prepaid mobile users, whose details are not registered by March 31, will have their services suspended.

This is for Bahrain. Etisalat and du have noting to do with this.
This only affects Batelco and Zain Bahrein customers.

When and where was this originally announced?
As usual, only the what is explained, not the where and how.
Now ... Etisalat and Du did not do the registration, it was of course important just to sell the numbers, now we should waste our time and go to their offices to register?
