Following the re-opening of Suvarnabhumi airport, Royal Jordanian was the first airline to land at the Bangkok airport.

Bangkok's main airport was closed at the end of November due to an eight-day long blockade by protesters.

Royal Jordanian operates seven weekly flights to Bangkok and the aircraft landed on 5th December, 2008 after having permission from the airport authorities.

It was believed that the airport authorities would delay flights following the end of the sit-in by protestors, but flights resumed the day the demonstrators vacated the airport complex.

President and CEO of the Amman-based airline, Samer Majali said that the airline kept passengers informed of its services to Bangkok via its call centre and website updates.
