UAE marches, TV fundraiser plan for Gaza people

A series of peaceful marches will take place in the UAE on Friday to show solidarity with the Palestinian people, it has been announced.

The Ministry of Interior has given approval to plans for processions to be held simultaneously at 4pm on the sand beach of Abu Dhabi Corniche, Greek Park in Dubai, Khaled Lagoon in Sharjah and Manar Mall in Ras Al Khaimah.

The ministry added that coordination had been made with the Red Crescent Authority for raising funds for the support of the Palestinian people during the events, reported news agency WAM.

Meanwhile, the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) launched on Friday a major TV relief campaign for people living in the Gaza Strip.

The move follows instructions from UAE leaders to collect donations for those affected in conflict-torn region.

The campaign, which started at 2pm, has so far raised 109.1 million dirhams and donations are being received at the branches of the RCA, at commercial centres across the country, and through SMS.

Donations can be made by calling 800733 from within the UAE and 0097126919170 from outside the emirates.

SMS message donations can be sent to 9010 to donate 10 dirhams, 9050 to donate 50 dirhams, 9100 to donate 100 dirhams and through 9200 to donate more.
