Jazeera adds new Syrian route to Mideast network

NEW ROUTE: Jazeera has launched its service to Deir Ez Zoor in Syria.

Jazeera Airways has added a new route to its network after launching flights to Syrian city Deir Ez Zoor.

The Kuwaiti-based budget carrier will operate flights to the city, based in northeast Syria, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Jazeera Airways’ chairman Marwan Boodai said: “Deir Ez Zoor is a highly exciting addition to our continually growing network of destinations and we are very happy to be beginning the New Year in such a positive way with this launch. We are the first international and first low fares airline in the region to offer direct flights to this understated yet exciting city.”

The city lies near the Euphrates River and was once a trading post during the Roman Empire. It is surrounded by desert, with ancient archeological remains close by.

Jazeera operates eight new Airbus A320s from its hubs in Kuwait and Dubai. The airline flies to various destinations the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Iran, and the Indian subcontinent.
