Apple CEO Steve Jobs is taking a medical leave of absence till the end of June after revealing that his health issues were ‘more complex’ than expected.
After stating that a hormonal imbalance was responsible for his rapid weight loss in recent months, Jobs admitted in another open letter that “…during the past week I have learned that my health-related issues are more complex than I originally thought”.
In a show of bravado, he added that: “In order to take myself out of the limelight and focus on my health, and to allow everyone at Apple to focus on delivering extraordinary products, I have decided to take a medical leave of absence until the end of June.”
Chief operating officer Tim Cook will act as interim CEO till Jobs returns.
Analysts and Apple enthusiasts remain skeptical of his return though, with several prominent technology blogs such as theAppleBlog and WIRED predicting that Jobs won’t be taking up the CEO post again.
