Intersec is a popular venue for sourcing new products.

One of the largest shows in the region for the security, fire and safety industries returns to Dubai this month.

Intersec returns to Dubai for the 11th year running this month, on 18th-20th January. Show organisers Messe Frankfurt report that the show will be 25% bigger this year, with over 1000 exhibitors in 2009, compared to last year's 2008.

The growth of the show is indicative of the benefits it has brought to exhibitors each year, who regard Intersec as useful in raising brand awareness and debuting new products and technologies.

[Intersec] is a great platform from which to launch new products in the Middle East. - Khaled Al Saleh, market development manager, GE Security.

"The concept of international and domestic security in today's world has changed dramatically in the last decade," said Angela Schierholz, senior show manager, Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

"It is no longer a case of simply purchasing the latest technologies or installing more surveillance cameras. Policing agencies, world experts and government officials all have to work together to share information and exchange best practices to combat threats from several new quarters. As a result, we have tried to keep every detail in mind for Intersec 2009 and have not only increased the exhibition space but will also have more than 60 lectures from internationally renowned speakers."

Exhibitors agreed with the sentiment, saying that the show was a great chance to promote themselves to the wider market.

"[Intersec] provides us with an opportunity to support our business partners by increasing our brand visibility and reaching out to new customers," said Khaled Al Saleh, market development manager of GE Security. "It is also a great platform from which to launch new products in the Middle East."

Product debuts look set to be a recurrent theme throughout the show, with many exhibitors using the opportunity to launch their new ranges on the Middle East market.
