Dubai-based travel agency Sharaf Travel has signed an agreement with tourism software specialists Amadeus to provide it with a new global distribution system for making hotel, car rental and air ticket reservations.

The distribution deal is effective for three years, during which Sharaf’s network of agencies in Oman and the UAE will migrate to the new Amadeus system, which also includes front office and e-commerce systems as part of the deal.

“Our partnership with Amadeus is an important step for us. We evaluated the value proposition and found that Amadeus technology best met our diverse business needs. While they have a solid global presence, Amadeus has demonstrated consistent performance in the regional market, and this was a key deciding factor for us. We are confident of offering specialised services to our customers and achieve better productivity and efficiency benefits through Amadeus,” said Salah Sharaf, chairman of Sharaf Travel.

We are positioned strongly to support Sharaf Travel’s unique business needs and our newly established regional hub in Dubai will be instrumental in bringing Amadeus’ global expertise to a local level.”

Amadeus already claims a number of leading Middle Eastern airlines as customers, including EgyptAir, Etihad Airways, Libyan Arab Airways, Middle East Airlines, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc and Tunisair.
