Northern Ireland teenage golfer Rory McIlroy moved into the lead on Saturday before bad light halted play during the third round of the fog-delayed Dubai Desert Classic.
McIlroy had an eagle and reached a 15-under 169 after 10 holes, giving him a two-shot lead over Louis Oosthuizen, who was in his group, and Richard Green of Australia, who played 11 holes.
Thomas Levet of France, one of 17 players to complete the third round, was the clubhouse leader, however, with a 10-under 206 following a 66.
The European Tour event was affected by morning fog, which resulted in the loss of six hours of play.
McIlroy, who opened with a 64 on Thursday, holed from 25 feet on the final hole of his second round and tapped in for another eagle on the third-round 10th.
After play was disrupted in the first two days tournament officials were forced to schedule two tee times with three players in each group for the final two sessions.
"It would be absolutely fantastic to win here," McIlroy told reporters. "At the moment I am thinking about hitting the 11th tee shot. That's all I can do. We will see what happens tomorrow (Sunday)."
