The wait is finally over now that the Apple iPhone 3G has been confirmed for release in the United Arab Emirates later this month.
Etisalat has just announced a deal to ship Apple’s latest iPhone in the country, with a planned release in February. The telco will simultaneously launch the device in Saudi Arabia through Mobily (Etihad Etisalat), though no pricing details have been announced as yet.
A company spokesperson revealed that more information will be made available over the next few days.
The iPhone 3G, available in 8GB and 16GB models, was first unveiled at the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco last year, with Gulf launches initially confirmed only in Egypt, Qatar and Jordan.
The news means that customers in the UAE and KSA will now finally get their first official taste of the revolutionary touchscreen handset that combines three products in one – a phone, a widescreen iPod and an internet device.
