Bahrain Air has announced plans to double its fleet and number of destinations by the end of 2009.
Managing director Ibrahim Al Hamer revealed the expansion plans during the airline's first anniversary celebrations on Monday.
The airline currently operates three aircraft and flies to 13 destinations but three more destinations - Kathmandu, Abu Dhabi and Calicut (Kerala) - will be added to the network next month, he said in comments published by Gulf Daily News on Tuesday.
He added that the number of aircraft in the fleet would reach six and they would fly to a total of 24 destinations by the end of the year.
Hamer told the paper: "The airline aims to play a major role in linking Bahrain, the financial centre of the Middle East, with the business community in the region by providing economical and fast point to point air service."
