Internet and mobile phone networks were lost in Saudi Arabia for three hours after contractors accidently cut underground optic fibres.
Two construction contractors caused the partial disconnection of Saudi Telecom Company’s network on Thursday.
The company is reportedly suing the contractors for the mistake after some private hospitals were unable to contact their insurance companies to get approval for surgical operations and some patients’ appointments were delayed because of the network collapse, Saudi Gazette reported on Friday.
The disconnection lasted for three hours resulting in the complete collapse of the internet and mobile networks.
The two contractors were working on projects between Makkah and Taif and between Madinah and Buraidah.
Saudi Telecom Company sent technicians to the damaged areas and fixed the cables in two hours.
