Aldar Marinas, a division of Abu Dhabi’s Aldar Properties, is to build around 3,500 yacht berths in 14 marinas across the emirate, the company announced on Sunday.

The first Aldar marinas to become operational will be at the company’s Yas Island and Al Raha Beach destinations, with each marina providing facilities catering for entry level boating to destination yachting.

“By providing a broad range of leisure marine facilities and services to Abu Dhabi’s coastline, Aldar aims to create a safe, sustainable and enjoyable recreational boating culture in the emirate,” said John Bullough, chief executive, Aldar Properties, the largest developer in Abu Dhabi.

Aldar Marinas is also constructing a yacht club at Yas Marina, which it says will further contribute to developing Abu Dhabi’s expanding leisure marine industry.

Surrounded by the new Formula 1 racetrack, Yas Marina will provide full-service berthing for vessels up to 66 metres and temporary berthing for vessels up to 150 metres in length.

The Yas Cays Marinas will include four marinas and accommodate nearly 1,000 vessels.

Aldar Marinas is a key sponsor of the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, which will run from March 12 to 14 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
