Autodesk unveils latest products in the Middle East

Autodesk recently held several demo sessions in the MENA region to showcase its newest post-production kit and 3D animation software.
At an open house event in Dubai, Autodesk unveiled Lustre 2007, a digital grading system that uses graphics processing units (GPUs) to offer real-time grading capabilities and the lower-cost version, Lustre HD, targeted specifically at TV grading and HD films.
Autodesk has also been touting its latest 3D software. At an event coinciding with GITEX in Dubai, the company presented 3ds Max 9 and Maya 8 – the first major releases of the products since Autodesk acquired Alias. Autodesk’s demo artists showed off the latest features of the new software which now supports 64-bit technologies.
Dayne Cowan, co-head of 3D at London VFX facility, Double Negative, was at the event to show how his facility used Autodesk 3D software to produce visual eff ects for the forthcoming World War One blockbuster, Flyboys.
Also, Autodesk’s reseller, Brainwaves, showcased Lustre 2007, Flame 2007 and Smoke 2007, last month at an event in Amman and previously, at the ERTU Festival in Cairo.
