Westcon has named Dean Douglas as the new President and CEO of the company.
Douglas, who is currently working as the COO of the networking, convergence, security and mobility distributor, will take over as the head of the company from the start of April. His predecessor, Tom Nolan, who founded the company in 1985 will now become chairman of the Westcon board of directors.
“As Westcon moves forward into 2009 and beyond, the company plans on integrating a more robust services model while expanding our global footprint,” asserted Douglas. “This will be built on the core capabilities already being delivered to our customers and vendor partners. These positive changes will be evident in all the geographic regions where we do business.”
Prior to working at Westcon, Douglas fulfilled tenures at Motorola and IBM in addition to time as the CEO of LCC International, a wireless engineering company.
The new president of the board says the firm is resolute on its single objective which includes being a strong partner for its channel.
“Our expansion and growth simply reflect the strength of those [channel] relationships,” said Nolan. “Meanwhile, Dean Douglas has already demonstrated his executive leadership abilities and knowledge of the industry, both at Westcon and in previous roles at highly respected companies. I am confident he will lead Westcon during the coming years with character and integrity.”
Westcon has an operation in the Middle East consisting of the Cisco-focused Comstor brand and the former Online Distribution business. Together those businesses make sales of almost $100m a year from the region.
