Qatari startup Fuego Digital Media QSTP is looking to deliver software on demand business applications to SMBs across the Arab world, with the signing of a deal with hosting and managed services provider MEEZA.

MEEZA will provide hosting and support services for the FuegoOnDemand service, which will offer simple business applications in Arabic, English and French for small and medium businesses in the MENA region.

Kevin Higgins, CEO of Fuego commented: “Increasingly, the Web is becoming the primary means of an organization’s interaction with customers, citizens, partners and employees. A key to improving SME business growth and profitability across MENA is to provide access to better Web applications.”

Fuego QSTP was set up with a $500,000 grant from the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) Proof of Concept fund, as a project to develop Arabic web content tools and business applications. The company aims to introduce its first services, including applications such as business email, unified communications, collaboration, web content and vertical and horizontal applications, initially in Arabic, to customers in Qatar sometime later in the year.

“Fuego will be providing mission-critical services to its SME customers and reliability and security are of paramount concern to us,” said Karl Gretton, Fuego’s chief technology officer. “We will be relying on MEEZA to meet our needs today and in the future as we scale our business up to tens of thousands of customers across the region.”

MEEZA will provide hosting and support services to Fuego through its M-VAULT 1, Tier 3 Data Centre, which is located at the QSTP.

Hamad Al Mannai, MEEZA deputy CEO said: “MEEZA is proud to be able to contribute to the success of Fuego through this agreement. By delivering high quality managed IT services and solutions, we aim to support the growth and success of companies like Fuego in Qatar and across the region.”
