BOUNCE BACK: The Bahrain economy is well placed to emerge stronger from the global crisis, a top economic official has said.

Bahrain will emerge stronger than ever from the impact of the global recession, a leading economic expert has claimed.

"Bahrain is as well-placed as any country to benefit as the world recovers," Economic Development Board executive director of business development Trevor Stokes told the World CEO Forum in Dubai.

His comments followed a similar message from EDB chief executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, in a speech at the Wharton Global Alumni Forum in Dubai last week, reported Gulf Daily News on Wednesday.

"Bahrain is already ready, it's open, it's up and running for business. Bahrain has been an established business centre, particularly in financial services. It is a country that has seen downturns before, learnt lessons and come back stronger."

He added: "Bahrain is steadily building its future based on sound leadership, prudent investment, good regulation and mature judgement."
