Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations has awarded a contract to install gas compressor units at its Bab oil field to SK Engineering & Construction of South Korea, it announced on Wednesday.
SK Engineering & Construction beat off stiff competition from seven other companies and consortia to win the engineering, procurement, and construction contract, valued at $805 m.
The same Korean firm was among several that lost deals to rennovate the Al Watan oil refinery in Kuwait that was cancelled earlier this week on the orders of the Gulf state's emir.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co, GS Engineering & Construction Corp and Daelim Industrial Co, along with Sk Engineering had all won contracts in May last year to build the refinery that was cancelled on March 15 this year.
The Abu Dhabi project is scheduled to be completed in 36 months, according to the WAM news agency.
