Dubai-based printing and consumables distributor Despec MERA, has branched-out by signing an agreement with IT accessories and interface devices maker Wacom.

As well as signing up to deliver Wacom’s full range of products, including accessories, the distributor will also provide sales, logistics and marketing support for the vendor across the Middle East.

“We needed a distribution partner with an already established sales channel and a committed Middle East network to strengthen the Wacom presence in the region,” said Andreas Küsters, general sales manager CEMEA at Wacom Europe.

As part of the process of highlighting a logistics partner suited to develop Wacom’s presence in the region, the vendor commended Despec’s experience and the speed with which the distributor is able to fulfill orders.

“Despec Mera’s distribution, sales and logistical experience, combined with state-of-the-art warehouse facilities, that would secure us instant availability, cost effective logistics and fast time to market, were an excellent match for Wacom,” added Küsters.

Wacom also revealed that it has appointed Abdul Gorashi as channel development manager for the Middle East. Abdul — previously an account Manager at Intel — is tasked to work hand-in-hand with the new distributor and will be responsible for developing Wacom’s sales channels for consumer, professional and vertical pen tablet and interactive pen display solutions.

Representatives from Despec insists the firm is well-positioned to begin developing Wacom’s customer-base in the Middle East and suggests that it has the perfect reseller and retail channel network to do so.

“Our network is ready to support Wacom’s expansion in the Middle East. Our resellers and retail partners have the expertise and know-how that a brand like Wacom needs to reach its customers efficiently,” asserted Faisal Jamal, COO at Despec. “We look forward to supporting Wacom’s rapidly growing business in the region.”
