Moving away from netbook tradition, the new Eee 1004DN PC from ASUSteK Computer will feature an optical disc drive for users to read and write data to DVDs or CDs.
Based on the Intel Atom platform, the netbook will also come with a useful expansion slot and plug-and-play compatibility.
Other notable features include a 10” LED display, digital array microphone, an integrated 1.3 megapixel web camera and built-in stereo speakers. Additionally, it features the ASUS Data Security System (ADSM) which allows users to log-on using their fingerprints.
Like other devices in this category, it is designed with portability in mind and weighs a light 1.45 kilograms.
While ASUS has not announced a release date for the netbook as yet, reports suggest it will be available by next month and could cost anywhere between $530 and $590.
