Conference set to tackle issues of Emiratisation

The UAE's first conference to debate the issues surrounding Emiratisation will take place in Abu Dhabi later this month.

High profile Emirati leaders have thrown their support behind the event which will focus on practical strategies and feature case studies from UAE companies including Aldar, Sorouh and Al Futtaim.

The conference, to be held from April 27-28 at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, also aims to discuss improving retention rates, maintaining a motivated workforce and managing quotas.

The event comes after it was reported that poor progress within the public sector at attracting Emirati employees was to be investigated by a government backed team.

The team will work to identify why nationals are not being employed in the public sector and draw up a strategy to tackle the issue.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the inaugural Emiratisation Forum 2009: 'Advancing and Retaining UAE Nationals in the Workplace' is being run by Abu Dhabi University (ADU), in conjunction with Aim Events.

The Forum will feature an opening address by Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with a keynote address by Prof Lynda Gratton, who is Professor of Management Practice at the London Business School.

Mr Muneeb Kazim, Manager of Strategic Planning and Performance Management in the Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council, who is a leading expert in the development of UAE policy in Emiratisation, will lead a panel of Emiratisation experts speaking during the course of the Forum.
