ONLINE Q&A: Sheikh Mohammed, Ruler of Dubai, has aksed citizens and the media to submit question via his website, which he will answer on Saturday. (AFP)

The high cost of living is the number one issue responders to an online poll say they want Sheikh Mohammed, the Ruler of Dubai, to address in his first ever online question and answer session with citizens and the media on Saturday.

Arabian Business’s survey shows that the expense of food, goods, services and utilities in the emirate is the most pressing matter, with 30 percent of responders voting this subject as the number one topic for discussion.

This was closely followed by 26 percent of people stating that they want Sheikh Mohammed to provide more details into the robustness of the overall economy to weather the current global crisis.

Next on the priority list are immigration and visas rules, with 23 percent of responders saying they want clarification over government proposals to extend the one month visa rule for those who lose their jobs.

Finally 21 percent say they want more details on how the government plans to improve the property sector for all.

Arabian Business has submitted 20 questions to Sheikh Mohammed via his new website as part of the online ‘town hall’ style event, which is part of a government-wide strategy to improve communication with citizens and the media.

Arabian Business, which is based in Dubai, has submitted questions covering all topics included in the poll, plus many more.

The answers are due to be posted on Sheikh Mohammed’s website www.uaepm.ae on Saturday April 18.
