Middle East IT distributor Aptec Holdings has launched operations in Pakistan where it plans to serve the reseller channel through sales offices in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

The Dubai-based outfit will operate in Pakistan under its TDME brand, created two years ago after Aptec acquired parts of Tech Data Middle East.

Its entrance into the Pakistani market, where it intends to primarily focus on the SMB segment, has been facilitated by an authorised contract with networking vendor Cisco. TDME is also a Cisco distributor for certain Gulf markets.

"Pakistan's IT market is gaining strength with time and we expect a steady growth despite the current financial situation,” said Essam Baghdadi, VP at Aptec. “Our research shows that there is an ever increasing number of educated users and experts in the Pakistani market."

TDME Pakistan will be headquartered out of its Karachi office and managed by Rizwan Ahmed. "We would like to see Aptec Pakistan become a full-fledged subsidiary offering the same facilities available in our other offices in the Gulf, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt and Turkey,” revealed Baghdady. “We have plans to add local warehousing and other logistics support shortly."

In addition to Cisco, TDME Pakistan will carry products from Belkin, Digi-Link, ISS, McAfee, NetApp and Symantec.
