NetApp and Cisco are teaming up to offer solutions based on Cisco’s Unified Computing System and NetApp’s Unified Storage Architecture.
The Californian-based companies are currently working on certifying the combined solution, with plans to collaborate on customer support and a joint marketing initiative.
"As more and more customers move to a virtualised infrastructure, they require the necessary storage, compute, and network solutions needed to transition to a truly dynamic datacentre," said Tom Georgens, president and chief operating officer for NetApp.
NetApp will be providing storage solutions for the Cisco Unified Computing System – which is based on a 10GB per second fibre connection – and will be tested for interoperability in a virtualised datacentre environment.
"Customers, especially in today's current economic environment, are always looking for ways to simplify, reduce costs, and increase efficiencies in their data centers. These attributes become increasingly important with the shift toward the virtualized data center," said Mario Mazzola, senior vice president, Server Access and Virtualisation business unit, Cisco.
As part of the marketing initiative, NetApp will participate in Cisco’s Data Centre of the Future program. The duo will also collaborate with VMware as part of the Virtualised Dynamic Data Centre Roadshow.
