Business intelligence software firm SAS will build a new $70 million cloud computing facility at its global headquarters in North Carolina, USA, to cater to increasing demand for its services.

When completed, the 38,000 square-foot facility will provide jobs for more than 1,400 research and development employees.

It’s all part of a grand expansion plan that’s focused on the growing adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions in the Middle East.

“This expansion strategy underlines our commitment to growth and innovation, in the midst of the challenging economic climate,” said Shukri Dabaghi, GM of SAS Middle East.

“We have identified the potential of hosted solutions as an efficient investment for SMBs, especially in the Middle East market, and this has motivated us to invest even further in the advancement of this model. We are also optimistic that this new facility will intensify the adoption and utilisation of the ‘SaaS’ model and our ‘SaaS’-based solutions in the region,” added Dabaghi.
