Microsoft has provided details of its recently-activated relationship with ITE Distribution in the region, revealing the company has been awarded distribution rights for Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the UAE.

As reported earlier this week, ITE Distribution has been signed up by the vendor’s Entertainment and Devices Division (EDD) to give it additional coverage in the retail channel.

ITE will carry all of Microsoft’s PC hardware, including gaming devices, keyboards, mice, webcams and headsets, as well as its Mac Office software.

ITE, which distributes brands such as Belkin, Logitech and Symantec, becomes Microsoft’s fourth hardware distributor alongside Delta Business Products, Logicom and Xbox wholesaler Pluto.

“They are an additional distributor and haven’t replaced anyone,” confirmed Reem Al-Ansari, product marketing manager at Microsoft EDD. “We think that there is a potential for the growth for our hardware business in the Gulf region and having ITE as a distributor will help us achieve this.”

Armagan Demir, head of Microsoft’s Middle East Entertainment and Devices Division, believes ITE’s established regional network will boost its position in the market. “ITE Distribution has a strong portfolio and a clear understanding of the retail industry. This strategic partnership will further expand our reach and reinforce our channel expansion and growth,” said Demir.
