I have to disagree with your description of Norton 360 as "ideal". My set up is not at all abnormal, and I've used Norton/Symantec products for years, but Norton 360 (2009) messed up my system so much that I had to uninstall it. It slowed the system to a crawl and stopped several other programs working. It had to go!
