The future of an aluminium plant project at Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Economic City is "uncertain" in the current economic climate, an executive of state-owned smelter Dubai Aluminium Co (Dubal) said on Monday.

"Plans for the King Abdullah Economic City plant are uncertain because of the economic conditions," Walid Al Attar, vice president of marketing and sales at Dubal, said at an industry conference in Dubai.

Last month Dubal met the Saudi Investment Authority and Saudi mining company Maaden to discuss plans to build the plant at the economic city, which is being developed by Emaar Economic City.  (Reuters)
