PC and components vendor Asus has confirmed that it has signed FDC to distribute select products from its range.

FDC has been brought on board to carry Asus’ graphics cards and motherboards in the GCC, excluding Saudi Arabia. The vendor explained that although it already works with distribution house Almasa for these countries, it wants to pursue a dual-distribution model to increase market penetration.

“FDC is already known to be a components distributor and that is doing well with motherboards and graphics cards it needed to add another brand and we needed a similar distributor that is already in the business and can just add the product line and deliver those products,” explained Ericson Correa, manager of channel management MEA sales group at Asus.

According to Asus, FDC currently has a portfolio that will complement its component products and this means the distributor already has an applicable contact book of channel customers and resellers to help expand Asus’ presence in the GCC market.

“FDC is also doing some Intel motherboards and other motherboard brands, so we will also be adding some tier-one brand motherboards and graphic cards to their portfolio, which now means its offering will be larger and it will be able to add more value,” said Correa.

Regarding the fact that Asus is also already working with Almasa for components wares in the GCC countries, Correa suggests that the signing of FDC allows the vendor to address reseller partners that it is not currently reaching.

“Some of the channel was perhaps not addressed but now Asus has many partners through Almasa and FDC,” explained Correa. “Most of our products are with the multi-distribution model. It has always been our policy that we have multi-distribution in the markets that need it.”

FDC’s components business unit manager, Girish K, reveals that the target that the pair have a agreed upon is roughly 15,000 motherboard units and 5,000 graphic cards per month for the GCC region. He also says that FDC’s record with components sets it aside from the competition.

“We respect the competition and understand that Almasa are an Asus distributor, but FDC has a strength in components distribution and this is where we are right in the picture and we have a proven record in the region,” said Girish.
