Budget airline flydubai will sell tickets through post offices across the UAE for people without internet access, it has been announced.
The Dubai carrier said Emirates Post had agreed to act as a selling agent, taking reservations, accepting payments and changing booking references either via the phone or in person at 101 post offices.
No date was given for when the service will be available.
“Our aim is to change the way people travel by making the process simple, convenient and hassle-free. People have different preferences and while some prefer to book via the internet or call centre, others prefer to do so in person,” said flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith.
“Keeping this in mind, we decided to partner with Emirates Post, allowing us access to their widespread network across the emirate and therefore bringing us closer to the community.”
Ibrahim Bin Karam, CEO of Emirates Post, said the company planned to establish an electronic network linking all post offices with the flydubai reservation system.
On June 1, flydubai services from Terminal 2 at Dubai International Airport will begin with flights to Beirut. It will then launch its inaugural flight to Amman the following day.
Services to Damascus and Alexandria are scheduled to start on June 8 and June 9 respectively.

Oh no...the last thing I would ever want to do is enter a post office in the UAE! It take an hour of queuing just to get a stamp let alone an air ticket. if flydubai wnat happy satisfied customers that last thing they should do is associate themselves with Emirates Post.
Service at post offices in the UAE used to be better when there was no ticket queuing system. Now that there is a system where customers are called to the counters to be served the staff can just take their time inbetween customers before calling the next customer. Waiting time is worse and the work pace of the staff has declined...like watching "live" slowmotion TV.
I hope this does not reflect other aspects of flydubai's service.
