The Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC) came out on top at the recent 2009 Arab eContent Award in Bahrain.

Inspired by the global World Summit Award (WSA), the Arab eContent Award recognises quality electronic content and promotes innovation in the development of new media in the Arab World.

Representing the UAE in the regional awards, ADSIC won two awards - the Abu Dhabi e-government portal took top honours in the e-government category, while Jobs Abu Dhabi (jobs.abudhabi.ae) was selected as a winner in the e-business category.

ADSIC was set up in 2005 and is considered the governmental party that owns the ICT agenda for the UAE, focusing on building the country’s e-government platform to match the best in the world.

“Abu Dhabi Government has established a clear vision to promote the government performance and provide governmental services aligned with the international best practices,” said H.E. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, general director of ADSIC. “We are pleased and proud of seeing the materialization of such vision and plans into a tangible reality, witnessed and recognized world-wide, while reflected positively on the Emirates society as a whole encompassing nationals, residents, and investors”.

Qatar's Qtel telco and Bahrain’s e-government portal, among several others, were also honoured at the awards. Regional winners will now have to go through a nomination process to participate in the next global WSA competition and compete on an international level.
