A consortium has won two contracts worth more than $80m to supply technology and services to enable Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) to raise its oil production, GE announced on Thursday.

The consortium of General Electric (GE) Oil & Gas and ABB will supply compressors, electrical systems and services for ADCO to be used for new gas lift and gas injection facilities at the Asab and Sahil fields respectively, GE said in a statement.

The new facilities are required for the two fields to achieve their production targets.

ADCO, owned 60 percent by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and 40 percent by Shell, Total, ExxonMobil and Partex, is planning to increase its oil production to 1.8 million barrels per day.

The projects will be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2012.

GE Oil & Gas, the hydrocarbons arm of US energy conglomerate GE, said it was supplying centrifugal compressors for the gas lift project at Asab and the gas injection project at Sahil.

Swiss engineering group ABB is supplying the variable speed drive system (VSDS) electrical scope, including motors, transformers and converters.

ABB announced on Wednesday it had won orders worth $100m for substations to strengthen Saudi Arabia's transmission and distribution network.
