Emirates Airline said on Monday it expects healthy passenger numbers to Bangkok after deploying an A380 on the route.

When contacted by Arabian Business, an Emirates spokesperson said the carrier was expecting 70 percent loads to Thailand’s capital.

The spokesperson added the A380, which will operate once a day on the thrice-daily service from Dubai, will also run at 70 percent capacity.

An A380 took off from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3 at 9.40am hours on June 1 and was expected to land in Bangkok at 7.00pm local time.

Meanwhile, Emirates launched its first A380 service to Toronto, which is scheduled to touch down at 3.45pm Canadian time.

“Emirates is delighted to celebrate its inaugural A380 services to Thailand and Canada today,” said Emirates Airline president Tim Clark.

“The aircraft with its large capacity and excellent operating economies is a pillar of growth, both for the airline and the destination.

“In Thailand, the introduction of the super-jumbo will support the local government’s multi-million dollar promotional drive to boost tourism arrivals from the high-yield Middle East region.

“At the same time the higher-capacity A380 will help address the strong demand for passenger and cargo services on the Dubai-Toronto route, which is currently restricted by the bi-lateral agreement to three flights per week.”

Clark added that larger capacity planes like the A380, which can hold just under 500 passengers, are required for tripling air travel demand in the next 18 years.

The airline has ordered 58 A380s and is planning to deploy a super-jumbo on its Seoul route, which launches in December.

According to Emirates, the A380 burns up to 20 percent less fuel per seat than the next largest aircraft. It also generates less noise on takeoff than most other planes, the airline added.

Emirates’ A380s have 14 first class suites, 76 business class seats and 399 economy spaces.

I normally take the A-380 Emirate Airline Inagural flights. I was on this flight and I really loved the way the Thai Government welcomed all the passengers.

I wish the Media and the Press reporters have these pictures posted on the Emirate Airline web site

I see from your report that First Class passengers get a Suite, business class get a seat, and Economy get a 'space'. What is wrong with Emirates airline these days, can't they even give economy passengers a seat any more?? Disgraceful......reporting.
And another thing

Claiming the passengers on the A380 are high-yield ME-sourced is also not factual, as a large percentage of these pax are from the UK and Europe or Australia, definitely not big-spending ME folks.
More maths please

It would be instructive if the folks at Emirates would say what current loads on their 777-300ERs are to Bangkok, because 70 per cent of 489 seats and suites on the A380 is about 340 seats, give or take, and since they constantly claimed their triple sevens were full it doesn't make sense, unless the Airbus operating claims are actually that real that it is cheaper to fly the newer plane with fewer people, etc. All anoraks gather round for this debate!
