General Motors Corp filed for bankruptcy on Monday, forcing the 100-year-old automaker once seen as a symbol of American economic might and dynamism into a new and uncertain era of government ownership.

The bankruptcy filing is the third-largest in US history and the largest ever in US manufacturing. (Reuters)

As for me I'm very sorry it happened. Sure thing, it is because of the credit crises and not because of their work. Not long ago a watched a documentary about GM, downloaded it at torrents files search engine http://www.picktorrent.com . It seemed to me all departments worked like a clock. Besides, they devote much money to futher education of their personnel. It was one of the greatest company in the history of the US and I believe it remain so.
