Emirates Airline has confirmed on-line bookings and payments are to be made easier with payment options in many of the operator’s markets being expanded.
Partnering with GlobalCollect, the payment service provider of local e-payments, Emirates.com can now offer alternative payment methods in more than 34 countries served by the site, the airline said in a statement.
Existing credit and charge card options are expected to remain a popular choice with customers. However, additional options now being offered include real-time bank transfers, on-line banking and offline bank transfers, allowing passengers to make direct fund transfers.
Payment can now be made in 14 different major currencies.
Passengers will also be able to pay for their tickets through selected Western Union Agent locations, using the Western Union Quick Pay service or via their PayPal accounts.
There are also some market-specific options like Solo and Maestro cards in the UK.
In addition, the airline will now allow a third party to make a payment on behalf of another passenger - a feature previously not offered due to concerns regarding fraud.
''In selecting these additional payment methods for customers using emirates.com we took a very local approach. Each country has its own unique preferred payment methods and we very much wanted to give options which catered for the needs of our customers in each market,'' said Richard Vaughan, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Worldwide.

As far as my knowledge is concerned none other airlines can provide excellant facilities than Emirates. Now it's great move to get the emirates e-ticket from home. Fantastic effort and well done emirates.

This is all very well, but Emirates need to make their website work properly in the first place for web bookings. Time after time when you try to make bookings all payment options are refused and you are asked to 'try again' This once resulted in being charged five times for the same ticket. Emirates normal excuse to this is that the credit card company has refused authorisation. This is invariably not true but does get a customer off the phone for them.
My last problem was the best when booking for Beirut the ususal pronblem occured. On phoning the reervations dept to sort out the usual non acceptance I was informed to check city centre ticket delivery box on the site, ring them and give credit card details on ther pohone and they would email the ticket as per a normal website booking! What kind of solution is that! They conirmed that this had been a problem for the 'last coiuple of days' This has been the case for more than two years in fact.
Emirates need t put ,'the cart before the horse', before bragging about improvements which will undoubtedly not work.

Well done Emirates. You now just have to work on your ridiculous prices. I just booked a return business class ticket to New York on British Airways at 7,000 dhs cheaper than Emirates. And BA also has all these wonderful methods of payment...
