Mobile operator Du has introduced a flat fee for all incoming calls for users roaming outside the UAE.
Under the new roaming tariff, which is billed as “One World, One Rate”, all of Du’s pre-paid and post-paid customers roaming abroad will pay a flat rate of AED1.25 ($0.34) per minute for incoming calls.
The development follows on from the ‘One Region, One Rate’ tariff scheme launched by Du in 2008, which allowed customers roaming in the GCC to accept incoming calls at AED 1.25 per minute.
Farid Faraidooni, vice president commercial, Du, said the company intended to make mobility “simpler, better value, and more accessible and convenient” for its customers. He added that Du’s roaming network now consists of 374 telecom operators in 133 countries.
The UAE’s incumbent operator Etisalat recentlly announced that it had expanded its roaming coverage to cover 520 operators in 190 countries, although the company has not yet standardised the cost of incoming calls for its roaming users.
