Budget carrier flydubai could be planning to add Kiev to its destinations as the airline builds its route network after launching this month.
Media reports in Russia claim Dubai’s first low-cost airline is eyeing up Ukraine’s capital, but flydubai chairman Ghaith Al Ghaith declined to comment on specific routes when contacted by Arabian Business.
He said: “We are keen to expand our route network quickly to ensure our customers have the widest choice of destinations possible. flydubai will look at all options within a 4.5 hour flight radius of Dubai.” Kiev is a four hour 20 minute flight from Dubai.
On Tuesday, daily services to Alexandria were introduced, flydubai’s fourth destination in eight days, following the airline’s launch on June 1. It also flies to Damascus, Beirut and Amman.
When announcing the Alexandria launch, flydubai said it would unveil new destinations soon. It’s expected to operate around 16 routes by the end of the year.
The airline ordered 50 Boeing 737-800NGs worth $4bn at the Farnborough Airshow last year. The range for each aircraft is more than 5,500km.

Keep it up. I suggest Flydubai flying to Aleppo/ Syria. The city has ~ 5 mln population and full of toursim attrcations - the longest covered real souks and bazzars and famous Aleppo citadel. Currently Air arabia alone flies daily to Aleppo and seats are often not available. I am sure you can share the pie and have great potential business on this route.

If flydubai began operations to Cyprus it would be great. At the moment only Emirates flies to Larnaca and it would be great if a low cost carrier starting flying there.

They must be on a winner for Dubai people, Air Arabia have done extremely well even though Sharjah can be difficult to get in & out of from Dubai during the rush hours. Terminal 2 is so much more accessible for Dubai residents. Any chance of flights to Paphos in Cyprus if your looking for routes?
