UAE telecom operator du has doubled the speed of its broadband internet services, claiming to offer the fastest in the Middle East.
The new broadband speeds of up to 24 Mbps will be available to all du customers who use the company's home services.
The company said the new broadband packages were useful to meet high-bandwidth requirements such as online gaming, streaming audio and video, high volume data downloads.
Farid Faraidooni, EVP commercial, du, said: “In an increasingly digitally convergent world, availability of high internet bandwidth is a primary need and with our new broadband packages we are offering more choice, greater value and an unmatched user experience for our home services customers.”
The telco has also changed its pricing structure so customers now get double the speed for the same price.
For example, 4 Mbps subscribers will now get 8 Mbps speeds at the same earlier price of AED449 per month, 8 Mbps subscribers will get 16 Mbps at a lower price of AED549 per month, and 12 Mbps broadband customers will be upgraded to 24 Mbps at the same earlier price of AED749 per month.
