Citibank has selected Etisalat’s managed WAN service to optimise its network connectivity across its UAE branches, financial centres and headquarters.

The end-user aims to make use of Etisalat’s managed WAN services to host applications and centralise the delivery of internet access across its distributed network without the need for internet access and security infrastructure at each location.

The project will replace the bank’s existing legacy network on leased line with an IP-VPN solution, which should ensure ‘any-to-any’ connectivity.

Zuhair Ali, senior VP and country technology head at Citibank, says that following an extensive evaluation of the offerings from various firms that the bank selected Etisalat to implement the managed WAN solution. He says that Etisalat was the only service provider in the UAE that could offer a complete one-stop solution for the connectivity, routers and onsite support.

“With its fully redundant MPLS network which facilitates a secure any-to-any connectivity across all our locations, the managed WAN service from Etisalat will play a critical role in supporting our extensive operations given its reliability, scalability and cost effectiveness," explained Ali.

Etisalat promises that the service will give Citibank access to the latest technologies and management expertise without requiring high initial capital expenditures or ongoing investments in technology upgrades.

“Our managed WAN service is an ideal solution for companies looking to reduce their total cost of ownership by outsourcing to an external service provider who will manage their complex network infrastructure,” said Abdulla Hashim, VP, business solutions at Etisalat.
