Int@j hosts open source workshop

Int@j, the ICT Association of Jordan hosted a workshop yesterday on open source software, around the theme of ‘Achieving faster growth and success while reducing spending’.
The event, which was held in co-operation with open source vendor Red Hat and local partner Savvytek, was intended to discuss factors to drive the growth of an open source software community, and its benefits to different sectors in delivering cost-effective technology solutions.
Red Hat also discussed the use of open source in several key verticals, including finance, tourism and hospitality, energy, pharmaceuticals, transportation, telecoms, and government. Several open source success stories from Jordan were also presented.
Annuj Kumar, general manager of Red Hat Middle East commented: “We are certainly seeing an emerging trend over the last years, where interest in Open Source in the Jordanian market and the region is clearly growing.”
The event was also supported by the USAID-USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ).
