A leading figure in Formula One has said he sees no reason why Qatar couldn't host an F1 race in the future.
Sir Frank Williams, the founder of Williams F1 team, said he was impressed with the Losail International Circuit, adding it was good enough to host F1 cars.
In an interview published by Qatar Tribune, he said he felt that the sport had grown beyond the borders of Europe despite the fact that the continent will play host to the maximum number of races in this year''s World Championship.
In the Middle East, after Bahrain, Abu Dhabi will host its inaugural F1 race - the final race of Formula One season - on November 1.
Asked if Qatar could host a Formula One race in future, Sir Williams said: "Why not? I have visited the Losail International Circuit and found the track good enough to host a Formula One race in coming years."
The legendary F1 figure was speaking during a visit to a Qatar centre for children with special needs.
He also welcomed the International Automobile Federation (FIA) plan to cap the budget saying it would not make much difference to the popularity and charm of the sport.
