Viva launches BlackBerry service in Kuwait

Kuwaiti telephone operator Viva today launched BlackBerry services for its customers in the country.

The solution is being rolled out in co-operation with Alcatel-Lucent and Research In Motion (RIM) for business and consumer customers.

At launch, Viva is offering two BlackBerry handsets, the Curve 8900 and the Bold, along with BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Blackberry Internet Services. Partner Alcatel-Lucent will handle the integration and deployment of services, while Viva will focus on customer service.

Eng. Najeeb Al-Awadhi, CEO of Viva commented: “The launch of the BlackBerry solution in partnership with Alcatel-Lucent and RIM is a good example of international cooperation. It falls in line with our principle 'to give more to subscribers'. We are proud to offer our customers this efficient and effective service, which has already become a hit among business users and individuals around the world.”

“We are pleased to work with Alcatel-Lucent and Viva to introduce the BlackBerry solution to Viva customers in Kuwait. BlackBerry smartphones are popular with people around the world who want well-balanced mobile phones that deliver advanced features, refined usability and stylish designs,” said Mark Guibert, vice president, Corporate Marketing at RIM.

Rival operator Wataniya launched BlackBerry services in Kuwait at the start of the month.
