Gulf Air has established a codeshare agreement with France’s national railway company to open up 19 French destinations for Middle East travellers.
The tie-up, announced on Wednesday, will enable passengers flying with the Bahraini carrier to book tickets that cover both travel with Gulf Air and Société Nationale des Chemins de Fer Français.
French train stations included in the tie-up include Montpellier St Roch, Nantes, Nîmes, Poitiers, Rennes and Bordeaux St Jean.
"France is a key premium market for Gulf Air and this codeshare agreement with SNCF will further strengthen our presence in the country and enable us to cater even more efficiently to the substantial passenger demand in France to travel to the many popular Gulf Air destinations," said Gulf Air CEO Bjorn Naf.
“As the national carrier we are confident this will also result in further strengthening Bahrain-France business ties and encourage more leisure tourism traffic between the two countries. This agreement is perfectly in line with our expansion strategy, which seeks growth in markets through partnerships where a non-stop service is not a viable option.”
This announcement follows Gulf Air’s decision to increase services to Charles De Gaulle airport from daily to nine weekly flights last October.
