Gulf Air is eyeing further expansion despite the global economic slowdown, its chief executive officer Bjorn Naf has said.
Speaking at the launch of the airline's summer season services to three new destinations - Aleppo, Alexandria and Salalah - the Bahrain carrier's CEO said the difficult financial situation would not stop the airline from bringing in new products.
The airline's recent $8 million agreement with Honeywell Aerospace to provide auxiliary power units and a maintenance programme for new Airbus A320 aircraft showed the company was looking to the future, he told Gulf Daily News in a report published on Tuesday.
Naf said the airline was always looking for ways to enhance its customers' travel experience by adding new routes and increasing flight frequencies.
"We have chosen these three popular destinations - in Syria, Egypt and Oman respectively - in response to positive customer feedback by expanding our network in tune with the demands of the season," he told the paper.
The new service to Alexandria started on Monday with five flights a week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Flights to Salalah will commence on July 1 while the Aleppo service will start from July 2.
