Abu Dhabi-owned Premiership football club Manchester City have signed Aston Villa goalkeeper Stuart Taylor for an undisclosed fee.
Former England under-21 international Taylor, who signed from Arsenal in 2005 for £1 million, failed to make an impact at Villa where he made just 12 appearances in four years.
Taylor’s arrival at City, as understudy to undisputed number one, Shay Given, will give City manager Mark Hughes the option of shipping England under-21 goalkeeper, Joe Hart, out on a season long loan - probably to Birmingham City.
Taylor, who is Hughes’ third signing of the summer said: "I can't wait to start. This is a fantastic club to join."
Hughes told City's website: "Stuart is still a fairly young goalkeeper but provides a wealth of experience and reliability."
